远景学院第二届外语文化节子活动——云端英语沙龙于右岸书院如期举行。本次沙龙邀请到了重庆移通学院外教Mike担任主讲人，远景学院张倩老师、赵晨倩老师担任主持人，远景学院学生代表参加了本次活动。Mike老师以“Differences Between Chinese and American Festivals”为题展开，通过对中美两国之间传统节日的详细介绍，让学生们对美国传统节日的起源和节日背后的文化意蕴有了更加深刻的了解。

活动伊始，主持人介绍话题

Mike教授通过列举不同美国节日的文化背景和庆祝方式，对美国的传统节日进行了细致的讲解，让学生们了解到了平时在书本上了解不到的节日文化，通过这个环节，同学们也懂得了作为一名优秀的学生，不仅要关注冰山上看得到的文化，还要关注冰山下看不见的文化。

Mike教授在介绍完美国的传统节日之后，对中国的传统节日和文化进行了提问。在这个环节中，师生共同加入讨论，现场气氛活跃，讨论激烈。每个人都谈到了对自己印象深刻的节日，来自19级英语专业的李斌同学关于春节的起源以及该节日背后的文化意义做出了自己的认知。他提到，春节的庆祝是为了让人们在忙碌的快节奏生活中慢下来，卸下工作和学习的压力，抛去生活中的烦恼，惬意地去享受与家人团聚的幸福和温情。

师生互动交流

精彩的沙龙活动促使学生们大胆发言，积极与外教互动起来。不知不觉，活动就接近尾声，现场活跃的气氛为大家练习英语口语以及相互交流提供了一次难得的好机会。在最后的讨论环节中，同学们轮流谈到了自己的收获和体会。赵晨倩老师鼓励学生们要敢于开口说英语，不要惧怕提问题。张倩老师告诫同学们学英语是一个循序渐进的过程，需要每位学习者不断地积累和坚持。

远景学院作为“在地国际化”的典范，积极开拓渠道、挖掘资源为学生提供国际化的交流机会与平台。本次云端英语沙龙活动，不仅为同学们提供了与外籍教师交流的环境，更在中西文化的交流碰撞过程中，提升了我院学子的文化自信，进而勇于承担起传播中国文化，讲好中国故事的责任。

Through the activities of this English salon, I felt for the first time the traditional Chinese culture festival in the eyes of foreigners. Although we are separated by electronic screens, we can feel each other's enthusiasm.Mike's story tells us about traditional American festivals that we never knew about.American festivals and Chinese festivals, although they are each, but they are worthy of inheritance, are worthy of everyone to love.We respect each other, experience each other's traditional festivals, and combine Chinese and Western cultures, which is the integration of every human being.

First of all, I'm so glad that I can attend this online meeting about the differences between Chinese and American holidays.Under the guidance of Teacher Mike, I have a deeper understanding of this part, also have some of my own opinions.

Most of the traditional Chinese festivals have a long history, originating from myths and legends, or commemorating important people. All of these festivals are indigenous to China, which can be described as "born in China and grown in China". Few foreign festivals have really become the mainstream of Chinese festival culture. Comparatively speaking, The American nation formed relatively late, and few festivals were born in the United States except Thanksgiving. Christmas was introduced into North America by the Pilgrims to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. Valentine's Day began in the Roman Empire in the 3rd century AD. It can be seen that most of the major traditional festivals in the United States are "imported", which is inseparable from the short history of The Founding of China and the characteristics of the immigrant country.

Through this English salon, I have a clearer understanding of the characteristics of festivals in China and the United States and the differences between them.

At the same time, I also realize my own shortcomings: I am afraid of communicating with others and making mistakes. But as teacher Mike said, the most important thing to learn a foreign language is to dare to speak it. Even if you are not as skilled as using your mother tongue, it is a great breakthrough for yourself

Through this English salon, I have a more comprehensive and profound understanding of the similarities and differences between Chinese and Western cultures. China and the United States have different cultural origins, cultural backgrounds, as well as the origin and celebration of festivals. However, the same is true in Both China and the United States: the celebration of festivals is to let people slow down after busy work and study, put aside worries, to enjoy the happiness of the festival.

真的是很难忘的一次经历，我觉得最大的收获在于，从英语母语者去了解他们对于中外文化的看法，以及他们对于不同文化之间的感受。Mike外教分享了他在每个节日感受，我发现不管中外其实内核都是一样的，都是对于“团聚”的向往，而这又再一次激起我对于中外文化探索的激情，在人性的通性下去感受不同的思想碰撞，通过更多更丰富的视角去了解这个世界，很期待下一次英语角又会带来怎样的视角呢。

此次外教沙龙主题是中西方节日异同，通过外教介绍，我们大致了解了西方节日，例如圣诞节，万圣节之类的，我们也说了中国的春节元宵节以及冬至，我们发现虽然中西方庆祝方式各有不同，但是中西方过节都有一个共同点，就是一家团圆，我们都很注重团圆这一方面。Mike老师说学习语言应该多说，所以我们也应该多读多说，锻炼自己。

通过参与本次的英语沙龙活动，听外教分享关于美国的节日文化，学习和了解了许多中美文化的差异，从节日的起源到节日的有趣习俗再到节日的不同活动，外教为我们展开了一系列对比和分享，扩大了视野，收获非常丰富。

Through participating in this English salon, I have a clearer understanding of the differences between Chinese and American cultures in festivals. Through the comparison of Chinese and foreign festival customs, I have a more appropriate understanding of foreign festival cultures from the perspective of English as a mother tongue.
